Itโs official, the holiday season is here again! And if youโve been hanging out with me for a while, you already know what that meansโฆ itโs time for my Personalized Photo Gift List.
Iโve been giving photo-based gifts for years, and I swear by them. There is no better way to shop for the hard-to-buy-for person or to instantly put a smile on someoneโs face. A meaningful photo truly is the gift that never misses.
But before you start ordering, there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure your personalized gift turns out absolutely perfect:
1. Order early.
Many photo gifts take time, sometimes weeks, to produce. Getting a head start is the key to avoiding rush fees and holiday stress.
2. Edit before you upload.
A quick crop, brightness adjustment, or color correction can make a world of difference. Make your photo look its best before it goes on a mug, blanket, or ornament. (Not sure how to do that… I’ve got you in the next section!)
3. Choose the photo first, then the gift.
Not every image works with every product. Start with your favorite handful of photos, then match them to gifts where theyโll shine. (And if you need help making a photo work… read on!)
And this year? Iโm adding one more game-changing tip.
Use AI tools to enhance your photos.
There are AI tools that make it easier than ever to fix and even elevate a photo you love. Most tools are completely free and unbelievably simple to use. Whether you need to:
- turn a horizontal image into a vertical
- expand the background
- remove an unwanted person
- clean up clutter
- or add a subtle, magical enhancement
โฆyou can do all of it with a quick AI prompt.
A free tool I suggest is Google Gemini. You can download the app, or simply go to the website and use it right on your computer.
If you’re not familiar, you simply type in a description of what you want changed with your photo.
Here are a few tips for creating prompts that will help transform any picture into the perfect image for your personalized gift. I used this photo of my kiddos and their cousin as an example

If your photo is too close to use for a gift, try this prompt: “Expand the background above and below the subject to create a more distant portrait. Keep the same overall perspective. Keep the lighting, colors and style consistent with the original photo.”
If you have objects or people you don’t want: โRemove the unwanted object/person and fill in the background naturally so it looks seamless.โ
Here you can see how I used that exact prompt to put more space around the photo. Now it’ll be easier to fit into gifts that need a lot of space. I was able to remove the cup and trash can from the background. I was even able to remove the entire deck! And then (just for fun) removed my daughter too! All of this is done for free with just using text prompts!

And now, once you have the perfect photo and you’ve added the love you need to make it work for a gift, here is that list that I’m shopping from this year!
2025 Customized Photo Gifts
In addition to the items on this list, I also have an entire collection on Amazon that has over 150 personalized photo items. Check that out at this link.

There are a few items on the list that I want to mention… If you have little ones, this block set is ADORABLE. You can see from the photo it is small (it gets bad reviews for being smaller than people expected) but I thought it was cute and I think it is priced accordingly for a smaller block set.
Also, the photo charm is super high quality. That is my go to gift for every occasion.
And I know a key chain and a bookmark are pretty basic, but these are actually really nice quality. I’ve given both many times and they are always a hit!

And in addition to Amazon products, I’m also a huge fan of the Personalization Mall. If you haven’t shopped them yet, definitely a great place for quality customized gifts.
I hope this helps as you are making your holiday gift plans! Now I’m off to place a few orders myself!
Happy Holidays!
