Why Select the Epson FastFoto?

thekristak, August 27, 2026August 27, 2026

As we wrap up August and a month of talking about a featured photo product that is especially close to my heart, I want to come back to the reason I chose it in the first place.

Because of all the products I feature, the Epson FastFoto is the one I wish every picture person had.

For most of my life, I thought being a picture person was about taking pictures. I was a professional photographer. It was all I ever wanted to be.

Then Hurricane Ian hit my community, and I learned just how much more there was to it.

More than 50,000 homes flooded. I volunteered to help people salvage their photographs, and I watched people pull pieces of their lives out of water and mud.

Wedding photos. Pictures of their children when they were little. Photos of parents and grandparents who were no longer here. Entire family histories that had existed safely in boxes and albums for decades, until suddenly they didn’t.

These weren’t just old photographs.

They were pictures people assumed they would have for the rest of their lives.

I put my photography education and everything I knew about photographs to work and helped save as many as I could. But I couldn’t save them all.

And that experience changed the direction of my life.

Because I realized something I had never fully understood before. Most people know their photos matter. What they don’t always know is how easily those photos can be lost.

You shouldn’t have to experience a hurricane, a flood, a fire, or simply watch decades take their toll on a photograph before realizing you needed another copy.

So I made myself a promise.

I would do everything I could to make sure no picture person could ever say, “I just didn’t know.”

That is a huge part of why I am here talking about photos today.

And it is why the Epson FastFoto matters so much to me.

It gives you a way to take those boxes of printed photographs and actually do something about protecting them. You can scan hundreds of photos quickly and create digital copies that can be backed up somewhere away from the originals.

Not after something happens.

Now, while the photos are still safely sitting in front of you.

If you want to understand more about why I care so deeply about this, and the steps I believe every picture person should take to protect their photographs, I wrote my book, Beyond the Storm for exactly that reason.

And if you already know you have boxes of photos you would be devastated to lose, you can check out the Epson FastFoto at this link.

Your photos matter.

Protect them while you still can.

I love this scanner because it has a photo feeder. It allows you to scan stacks of photographs at one a time. I have found it to be the quickest and easiest way to get digital copies of old photographs and to get photo organized!
