Remember those great pictures you took last summer on vacation? Or how about that time you had the family all together? Those are all great memories, but the further they get pushed back in your camera roll the more lost those pictures become.
It’s time to give those great memories the love they deserve!
I print a collection of my pictures every month and add them to a running photo album that I keep out in my living room. I initially did this just for me, but I was surprised to see how much my family loved it too. Especially as my kiddos have gotten older. Every time they visit it gets opened up. They enjoy seeing that family get together from a few moths ago or the trip we took last year. It makes for some great conversations and good laughs too!
If you are thinking about starting a printing routine, here are the steps I would suggest!
Step One:
Purchase a photo album! Having an album ready to go gives the project a little excitement! Here is the album that I use. I own this one in grey, black and tan and I think all three colors look nice.
Start a running photo album that you add prints to every month!
2. Next I would start a weekly routine of narrowing down the pictures that are taken. A quick flip through the pictures of the day or week adding that heart icon to the ones that stand out. I find it to be fun to look at my pictures again and it’s easy to favorite pictures when the moment is fresh in your mind.
3. Download a photo lab app. If you haven’t seen my 2023 photo lab comparison, check that out here. However, stay tuned my new 2024 comparison is going to be available very soon! Once you have selected a photo lab that best fits your budget and quality needs, you’ll find it’s easy to go through their simple ordering steps every month.
4. On the first day of every month I open up that app and I order all of my favorite pictures from the month before. You can still narrow it down more as you are ordering, or you can quickly just select all of those favorites. I’ve literally done this step while in line at the grocery store or taking the elevator in a hotel (Seriously!!).
5. A week later when your photos arrive add them to your running photo album. I typically do this mindless step while I’m watching TV. Honestly it takes about 3 minutes though, so sometimes I just go right from my mailbox to my photo album because I’m too excited to wait!
6. Place that album out on a coffee table and share it with friends and family when they visit. Seriously, if you take a vacation or add a new grandchild to the mix, sliding through phone pictures isn’t nearly as special as sitting down with a nicely curated photo album.
7. Enjoy the feeling of printed photos again!
Let me know in the comments if you are printing your photographs or if you are ready to start! I promise you’ll appreciate having real pictures again!
