Before I headed to Poland I was told “most people speak English, you’ll have no trouble!” And that was true. We had no trouble at all…. Until about 6 hours into our trip and I had to use a public restroom but couldn’t read the sign. The tiny cafe had cute signs on each restroom door… But the universal figure in a dress was nowhere to be found! I panicked! But then I remembered this easy travel hack! And that started off our 10 day vacation using it everywhere! Every poster, sign, menu, even the plaques under monuments and statues, it had endless uses! Didn’t matter if it was handwritten, in cursive or printed, it worked every time!
I traveled to Poland with my best friend since first grade, Alyce. Neither of us speak any Polish, but we managed to get by with the help of the camera app on my phone!
Here is how to use this easy tool!
On iPhone
open your camera app. Point the camera at the text, then tap the text. You’ll see a circle pop up in the bottom right corner. Click on that. Then you’ll see the option to translate.
On Android
Download this app to translate text in a photo
Download the language you need to use the app offline!
Go to settings – select Translate
Tap downloaded languages, then tap the arrow next to the languages you want to download.
And if you are traveling soon, check out my must have photo travel gear!!

My daughter just went to Italy and she used this translation on her trip! She absolutely loved it and said it worked really well for her.
