Stop Sitting Out of the Shot ! Here’s How To Get Into the Photos

thekristak, May 9, 2025

If you’re always the one taking the photos, chances are you’re missing from a lot of the memories. I get it – I’ve been there too. Whether it’s family vacations, holidays, or just a day out, I used to end up with albums full of everyone but me.

And if getting in the photos means propping your phone up on a trash can or putting it in a shoe (is that just me!!?) there’s a better way!

I’m so excited about this little gadget I recently found. I’ve tried so many phone stands, and most are either too clunky, too flimsy, or just not made for real life. But this one? It’s the most flexible, portable, and reliable stand I’ve ever used and now I’m finally showing up in the photos.

How to Actually Get in the Picture (Without Asking a Stranger)

We all want to capture more memories with the people we love—not just of them. But too often, we’re the ones behind the camera. This little tripod changes the game. Here’s how to use it to start showing up in your own photos:

1. Use the Self-Timer (Classic and Easy)

Most smartphones let you set a 3- 5- or 10-second timer in the camera app. Simply:

  • Set up your phone in the tripod
  • Frame the shot
  • Hit the timer
  • Walk into position and smile

It gives you just enough time to get in the shot, and works great for group photos or solo travel pics.

And, once you’ve done this a few times you’ll navigate to the self-timer button fast and easy every time.

2. Use a Bluetooth Remote for Even More Control

Grab a small Bluetooth remote to pair with your phone in seconds.

  • Turn on the remote
  • Open your phone’s Bluetooth settings and select the device (usually named something like “AB Shutter”)
  • Open your camera app
  • Press the remote button to snap photos wirelessly

You can take as many pictures as you want – no running back and forth to reset the timer!

Final Thoughts: Small Gadget, Big Impact

This tripod has completely changed the way I take photos. It’s lightweight, flexible, and makes it so much easier to be in the moment and the memory. Whether you’re documenting your travels, snapping family photos, or just capturing everyday life – it’s a tool I now carry everywhere.

If you’ve been looking for a phone stand that finally lives up to the hype, this is the one.
I truly can’t recommend it enough.
