THE PICTURE PERSON HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE · 2026
Good memories make great gifts.
The trip. The dog. The people. The little moments you still talk about. Here are 16 ways I’m turning favorite photos into gifts this year.
Some links in this post are affiliate links. I may earn a commission if you purchase through them.
I’m Krista, a professional photographer, lifelong picture person, and the one friends and family know for coming up with unusual, thoughtful gifts. I’ve been giving personalized photo gifts for as long as I can remember, so you could say I’ve been training for this list my entire life 🙂
My daughter and I came home from a vacation this year and realized we hadn’t bought any souvenirs. But I had taken a ton of photos. Turns out, I already had everything I needed to make her something meaningful.
That’s what I love about personalized photo gifts. You start with a good memory, then find a way to give it back to someone. These are the gifts I’ve made, the ones I treasure, and the ones on my holiday shopping list.

1. Paper Culture StoryFrames
✦ This one’s already in my office
These turn your photos into art. I made one for my office with photos of my dog, and the combination of text and design makes it feel more like a gallery piece than a basic framed picture.
Just drop in your photos and customize the text to make it your own. Crafted with premium materials, including archival-quality paper, it’s a thoughtful way to showcase favorite memories.
I love mine enough that I’m adding more to my holiday shopping list. This is a lovely choice for couples, families, or anyone who appreciates thoughtful design.

2. Lonago Photo Necklaces, Lockets & Charms
I have one with photos of my late dog, and I still treasure it. I chose black-and-white pictures for a classic, understated look.
This year, I’m giving my mom a charm with photos of her grandchildren. It’s tiny, but the quality is what made me want to give one to someone else.

3. Leather Photo Bag Tag
✦ The little extra they’ll remember
I’m giving our daughters purses this year, but there’s a surprise attached: a leather bag tag with a photo of each daughter’s pet.
I think that little personal touch is going to be the part they remember. A new purse is a lovely gift. Their favorite face coming along for the ride makes it theirs.
✧ For little readers & the family storytellers
4. Pinhole Press Board Books
✦ Make them the main character
After a weekend with our 18-month-old grandson, Flynn, I came home thinking about how much he loves his books. But why stop at random barn animals when we could make a book about HIS life?
I used our weekend photos to make My Weekend with Grandpa & KK, with a few words about what we did together. Then I made another for a friend’s little one. Kids love seeing their own photos, and I think these are going to be a hit.
The layouts give you an easy starting point: slide in your photos, then use a prewritten story or add your own words. You can customize everything you see to tell the story of a visit, introduce family members, or make a book about colors or counting. Printed and bound in the USA, these books have thick, rigid pages made for little hands and a story they’ll love because it’s theirs.

5. Paper Culture Photo Memory Game
✦ Family history. Meet game night.
I’m making a family-history version for Christmas, using vintage wedding and couple photos going all the way back to my grandparents in 1918. A matching game with a little family storytelling built in? Yes, please.
I love the round pieces, the high-quality 100% recycled paper and thoughtful packaging. This doesn’t have to be just for little kids; it’s also a reason to sit around the table and talk about the people in our photos.

6. Family Story Blocks
✦ A little more of your story, every year
My husband is super sentimental, so these are on my must-order list. But what I love most is the idea of starting a tradition: adding another photo and another little piece of our story each year.
Growing up, my mom had a silver ornament engraved for us every Christmas. She continued with her grandchildren, and those ornaments are still special to all of us. These blocks reminded me of that and made me think of how special a traditional gift can be.
Imagine adding a block each year with a photo and a few words about what each child loves, something they accomplished, or their answers to the same little annual interview. By 18, they’d have a whole stack of Christmas memories telling the story of growing up.
I’ve ordered dozens of gifts from Personalization Mall and have been happy with the quality. My tip: their Black Friday sales have been some of my favorites. Start choosing your photos and planning your words now so you’re ready when the sale arrives.

Your photo doesn’t have to include a person.
With all of these gifts… a favorite sunset. A local landmark. A place you visited together. A photo gift can hold a memory without a single face in it.
Have the perfect photo in mind… but it’s buried in a box or lost on your phone?

✧ Gifts that have meaning
7. Envelope Photo Necklace
✦ One for them. One for me.
I might be most excited about giving this gift this year. And yes, I bought one for myself, too.
I love how tiny and delicate this necklace is. The photo tucked inside the envelope can hold a memory that sometimes only you know is there. An inspiration, a reminder, or someone you want to keep close to your heart.
For my daughter and me, I chose my grandparents’ wedding photo from over 100 years ago. As immigrants, they struggled to build a better life for the generations who would follow them. That photo carries so much meaning for me.
Wearing it is a reminder of how hard they worked to make the life we have today possible, and to never take the simple things for granted. That’s what makes this gift special: choosing a photo that means something only you can explain.
✧ For the trips, the get-togethers & the everyday
8. Mpix Personalized Camp Cups
✦ No souvenir? You took photos.
Remember that trip with my daughter and our missing souvenirs? These camp cups became my answer. I used our vacation photos to make something she can use and remember the trip by.
I also made one for my best friends as a reminder of the one time we all managed to get together this year. I like the regular coffee-cup feel with the added insulation.

How I’m gifting it: Fill the cup with candy, tuck it into a cute gift bag, and you’re done.
9. A Linen Photo Box Filled with Prints
A new baby, a family reunion, a girls’ weekend: go back to the photos from a special day and put a few prints into a simple linen box.
This is one of my favorite thoughtful-but-affordable gifts. I even gave these photo boxes to everyone who attended the first Great Photo Voyage, my photo cruise. A modest box can hold a whole lot.
For prints, try Mpix, Printique, or Persnickety Prints.
10. Mpix Photo Magnets
✦ A little something
A sweet little stocking stuffer, or an easy extra to tuck into a larger gift. These are high-quality photo prints made into magnets, and the paper you choose can make them feel extra special.
I recently showed my stepdaughter some Mpix magnets I’d printed, and she immediately noticed how much the photos popped compared with others she’d seen. My secret? I chose the metallic paper, which gave the photos a beautiful, vibrant finish.
A few favorite faces, vacation memories, or even a gorgeous scenic photo can turn a little space on the fridge into something worth looking at.

11. Glowing Photo Box
✦ For the dad who has enough sweaters
This one surprised me. I wasn’t even planning to include it on the list, but once I tried it, I knew it belonged here. Now I’m thinking of more people I want to give one to.
Part nightlight, part photo display, it gives a favorite picture a pretty glow. It’s a lovely accent even during the day, and the different light modes let you change the look.
I especially love that it’s rechargeable. Charge it, then set it wherever you’d like without keeping it plugged in or replacing batteries.
My dad is impossible to shop for, but this feels like something he’ll actually enjoy having beside him. A favorite memory with a little glow… and a welcome change from another sweater!

✧ For hosts, teachers & the hard-to-shop-for
12. A DIY Personalized Photo Tray
For the entertainer in the family or the grandparent who’s hard to shop for, this is a useful gift with a personal touch.
I picked this tray because it takes a standard photo size. Print your picture, pop it in, and you’ve made something personal without waiting for custom printing.

13. A Personalized Ceramic Flower Pot
Add a little succulent to a personalized photo pot, and you’ve got a thoughtful teacher gift without going overboard.
A favorite photo makes it personal, but a flower or nature picture you’ve taken could be lovely here, too.

14. Custom Glass Photo Cutting Board
✦ Add cookies. Gift done.
This is how I like to give a personalized cutting board: make cookies, arrange them on it like a platter, and wrap up the whole thing.
They get homemade treats now and a photo keepsake to use afterward. A family picture, favorite place, or vacation scene would all work beautifully.
15. Yankee Candle Personalized Photo Candles
✦ Short on time? Try the mall.
Need something personal without a long wait? Participating Yankee Candle stores can customize a photo candle for same-day gifting. My daughter and I stocked up on these last year.
Step-parents, in-laws, neighbors: this is a lovely little extra for someone you’ve shared good times with. Choose a photo from one of those moments, add a message, and suddenly a candle tells a story.

In-store personalization varies by location, so call your store before heading over. Online personalized orders ship rather than qualify for store pickup.
16. Mpix Simple Photo Calendars
I’ve already made several of these to give as gifts this year because they’re so simple. Drag and drop your photos into a one-page calendar, and you can be finished in minutes. They ship quickly, too, which is a bonus during the holidays.
The calendar comes as an 8×10 print and is under $4 to have printed, so all you need is a picture frame and gift complete! I found an inexpensive acrylic frame on Amazon that really makes it. It’s simple and modern, and if you grab these frames in the 4 pack you can make it an entire gift that is under $10 each!
This is another reason to use those beautiful scenic photos. A local landmark, a favorite beach, or nature pictures you’ve taken can make a calendar feel personal without using family portraits.
Think teachers, neighbors, your mail carrier, or someone at church. A thoughtful little gift they can enjoy all year.

Here’s the acrylic frame I’m using from Amazon. I love its simple, modern look paired with this calendar. They look like they were made for each other!
Or grab them in a 4 pack and make it even more affordable:
200+ more things you can put a photo on

Still looking for your kind of gift? I keep the complete list on my Amazon storefront, with over 200 items and counting. It runs from old favorites like photo coasters to the most bizarre things you can personalize. And yes, a photo shower curtain really is a thing!
There’s so much more you can do with the photos you love. Need to scan a box of old pictures, find an app to help organize them, or get them off your phone and into your life? I love testing the tools and finding ideas worth sharing.

I've tested dozens of tools, apps, scanners, and services to find the absolute best solutions for photo organization. And now, I’m sharing them all with you in one easy-to-follow FREE guide!
The best photo gift starts with a memory you want someone to keep. It doesn’t have to be expensive or elaborate. Sometimes it’s a cup from a trip, a tiny charm, or cookies on a cutting board. The photo is what makes it theirs.
Happy Holidays!
