I wanted to know, do you need to spend a lot of money on a picture frame to have a nice display in your home?
I purchased 20 frames on an Amazon to see if I could find quality frames that would fit both my budget and style. Of those 20, there are 10 that I really like.
Here is what I learned about inexpensive photo frames from this experiment:
The less expensive frames often have a very flimsy back.
Many of these inexpensive frames have bendable metal tabs to shut the photo into the back, NOT the more convenient twist shut tabs. Also, the stand to hold the photo upright on a table is often more flimsy with these frames. I found that there are a few stand outs that are inexpensive, but still had a higher quality construction.
First up! Table top photo frames. These all have a very modern feel and are surprisingly nice!
I love a classic black frame. Many of these do come in other colors and sizes too.
This first black photo frame might just be my favorite of the entire group. It’s solid wood, real glass front (not plexiglass) and the back has easy open tabs, a sturdy stand and overall it has a nice weight to it. I have nothing bad to say about this inexpensive photo frame!
This next black frame is solid! It has a little weight to it, making it feel like a better quality. It does have those hard to open tabs, but with the help of a butter knife I was able to get those open. The stand is actually solid too, this one isn’t going to fall over on a table and it looks great on a wall too.
Another great option. This one is also real wood and has an easy open back.
This next one definitely has a cheaper quality construction than the others, however it is a larger 8×10 size and includes a nice photo mat. I was surprised at how good it looked once it was displayed. So I am including this one because of how great it looks sitting out in my home, however I probably wouldn’t use this one as a gift since it is very lightweight and may give off cheap vibes when held.
These rustic photo frames are nicer than I expected!
Faux rustic, like plastic with wood grain, will never win with me. So I wasn’t expecting to like these since they were so inexpensive. I was definitely wrong. These two both have that classic rustic look and pull it off beautifully.
Plastic and lightweight, but I’m giving this one a pass because…
Okay, truth is, I ruled out several other frames because they were lightweight and clearly just plastic. However, this one wins because it comes in so many bright and vibrant colors. It’s probably not one I would give as a gift since the weight of it makes it feel cheap. However, once displayed it looks great. This could add a fun pop of color to a room and be a nice way to display a photo. So it does make this list for it’s fun style!
